Individual Laser Projects
For the three laser projects I designed a notebook cover, a water bottle engraved design, and a box to hold pictures. Unfortunately this rotation only included the designing part because we do not have access to the laser, but hopefully in the future we will be able to finish the project!
Notebook CoverThe notebook covers started by making two 4.25x5.5 rectangles. Then I made the lines .0001pt thick and changed then color to red. After that I wanted to have the letter E cut out in the center so I found a font made the E large enough, .0001pt thick, and the color red so it would cut out. At that point the cover looked like the top picture. I wanted an engraved print in the background. So I found a black and white image of a cheetah print pattern and pasted it in to Illustrator. Then I made the image to fit to the size of the cover and then made it a vector image. Then I was all done the bottom picture shows the final product.

Water BottleNow the engraved water bottle I wanted to make for my mother who does lots of long distance biking! I started of by finding the wrap for my water bottle which was 8.4804 inches. So my design could be as big as 5x8.4804 so I made a box that big. Then I found an image of a mountain and a wave and has the idea to have a bike between the mountain and the wave. I then also put her name on the bike that you can't really read in the second picture but it says Jeanine Bikes. Then I placed the bike image in and made sure everything fit together nicely. Then I grouped the design together and rotated it 270 degrees so it would be set up if it were being used by the laser. And the final product in the picture just below it turned out just how I expected.

Picture BoxThe laser cut 3 dimensional item that I picked was a box that you would put together. This was the easiest one for me because I could use a website that you just plugged in your dimensions and it made you a box in a PDF. It came out as the first picture on the right. Then I made the lines red and .0001pt and added some finishing touches. I made a little cut out so you can see into the box. I also put Ella's Pictures on it. It turned out great the final product is the bottom picture!

What I Learned
Altho we were not able to use the laser to create our projects I still learned a lot more about using Illustrator. Another thing that taught me a lot was doing this mostly independent and it kind of proved to me that I could use Illustrator and create something without a significant amount of help. This rotation was also more frustrating because I had most of my projects already done from time in class. Luckily I was able to recreate them easily because of snips I put in my designer note book! Over all I was happy with what I was still able to accomplish with at home school!
